Senior Pastor

This week’s lead is for the ladies. On this day, spread across four decades, four of your favorite leading male actors were born. That’s right: Robert Redford (1936), Frankie Avalon (1940), Patrick Swayze (1952) and Christian Slater (1969). You’re welcome.

As for MORE, we are working on a project to help our teachers as they go back to school. Very soon we will have a list of items our teachers need to prepare their classrooms. We want to bless them so they don’t have to spend so much personal money. Some of the items you can bring include: No. 2 pencils, mechanical pencils, composition notebooks, glue, glue sticks, Crayons, colored pencils, sanitizer wipes, old cellphone chargers, area rugs, a comfortable chair or two (for a reading nook) and a few backpacks. We will update the list next week. Please bring your items on Sunday and place them on the table formerly known as the donut table.

The next healing/prophetic and worship/prayer night is 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 25. We also will have children and youth that night. We will return to our full Wednesday scheduled on Sept. 8.

JJ Hernandez from the PREP group, has made parole and will be released from the Randall County Jail on Thursday. He has found a place to live until his rental place is available but will need several household items as he begins his new journey. He has a bed and a dryer, I believe. If you have cleaning supplies, kitchen utensils, bedding, etc. that you may not need anymore, he might could use it. To cut out the middle man, please contact JJ at 678-4482.

It was the day after Christmas at a church. The pastor of the church was looking over the cradle in the manger when he noticed that the baby Jesus was missing from among the figures. Immediately, he turned and went outside where he saw a little boy with a red wagon. In the wagon was the figure of the little infant, Jesus.

So, he walked up to the boy and said, “Well, where did you get Him, my fine friend?”

The little boy replied, “I got him from the church.”

“And why did you take him?”

The boy said, “Well, about a week before Christmas I prayed to the little Lord Jesus and I told him if he would bring me a red wagon for Christmas I would give him a ride around the block in it.”

It seems that God received a delegation of animals complaining of their lot in life. There was an elephant, a giraffe and a hen.

The elephant complained, “Lord, I hate this trunk you have given me. It gets in the way and makes me look like a fool!” The Lord said, “Don’t complain. It lets you pick up food, drink water, etc., without getting wet.”

Next, the giraffe complained. “Lord, I hate this long neck. It makes me top heavy. I get terrible neck pains. And, people laugh at me!” The Lord said, “don’t complain. It lets you pick the best fruit and leaves from the high branches and allows you to see a distance.”

The hen spoke up. “Lord, I don’t want to complain but either let me have a bigger butt or smaller eggs.”

Church Bulletins:

·      Bertha Belch, a missionary from Africa, will be speaking tonight at Calvary Methodist. Come hear Bertha Belch all the way from Africa.

·      The Fasting and Prayer conference includes meals.

·      Our youth basketball team is back in action Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the recreation hall. Come out and watch us kill Christ the King.

·      The peacemaking meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled due to a conflict.

·      Don’t let worry kill you off. Let the church help.

·      Miss Charlene Mason sang, “I will not pass this way again,” giving obvious pleasure to the congregation.

That’s all, folks. Enjoy the rest of your week.
