Intercessory Prayer

Sun, July 2, 20178:30 AM - 9:45 AM

Each Sunday morning we have a group of intercessors that meet at 8:30 AM.  Prayer is holy-spirit led and combined with music for soaking.  Jennifer Martin and Danielle Kiper lead the group each week in the "red room," (our classroom at the SW point of the building).  No sign-ups needed; just show up and be ready to listen and intercede.

The Weekly Update

(June 21, 2017)

Summer is in full swing and we hope you are enjoying it. We have taken a break from some things but are full steam ahead with others. This week is packed.

It will be fairly hot today so come cool off from 7-9 p.m. today at the pool at Southwest Park. In addition to lots of swimming and fellowship, we will have the Jungle Run and sand volleyball open. It’s a great time to visit and hang out with your church family. Oh, and it’s free.

Take a break on Thursday then come to the church on Friday for MORE Talent Night. From 6:30-8:30 p.m., you will be entertained by some folks you know can entertain and probably some you didn’t. It will be a great time to enjoy the talent we have at MORE.

Finally, we will fill up Saturday with a couple of men’s events. First, men come join us for breakfast at 9 a.m. If you’re not playing golf, it’s $5. If you are, it’s free. Beginning at noon, several teams will play in the annual golf scramble. It may be full but if you have any questions, contact Kerry Luke. Maybe he can squeeze you in. Cost is $45. Don’t forget to pay.

We get requests from time to time for rides to church, either from our own members who can’t drive or from people who would like to come. Currently, we do not have a bus or transportation ministry. Will you pray about whether you are supposed to volunteer to do that? It could be done in your own car each week with one or two people to pick up. I know some day this will be a larger ministry. If you would like to discuss it further, please contact Pastor Lyndal.

Signups are ongoing for the annual Ladies Santa Fe Road Trip, set for Nov. 3-5. Those going will be staying two nights at the Hacienda Hotel & Spa. All the costs and information about the trip can be obtained from brochures in the foyer. Half of the total cost is due by Aug. 13 with the balance due by Oct. 15. There is a $60 non-refundable charge for cancellations. Contact Becky Waldrip at 672-8420 for more information.

Please check the calendar below for more information. You also can go to our website at www.ilovemore.org.

Thoughts for the week:

  • “The trouble with Christianity is we never let Jesus be a message to all religions. We destroy Him by making Him a religion.” (Simone Weil, French philosopher)

Selected quotes from Pastor Daryl last Sunday:

  • No one has ever gone to heaven because of religion.
  • Religion thrives on insecurity. “You might not go to heaven if you don’t do this right….”
  • With God, there is no past, present, future. He is always now.
  • A secure life is a life without worry.
  • Religion is man-made. Jesus is not.
  • There are no competing religions. Jesus is the answer. Jesus is the solution for mankind.

Old is when a sexy babe or hunk catches our fancy and your pacemaker opens the garage door.

Old is when your friends compliment you on your new alligator shoes and you’re barefoot.

A lady goes to the bar on a cruise ship and orders a Scotch with two drops of water. As the bartender gives her the drink, she says “I’m on this cruise to celebrate my 80th birthday and it’s today.”

The bartender says, “Well, since it’s your birthday, I’ll buy you a drink. In fact, this one is on me.” As the woman finishes her drink, the woman to her right says, “I would like to buy you a drink, too.”

The old woman says, “Thank you. Bartender, I want a Scotch with two drops of water.” “Coming up,” says the bartender. As she finishes that drink, the man to her left says, “I would like to buy you one, too.” And the woman thanks him.

“Bartender, I want another Scotch with two drops of water.” He makes the drink and as he gives it to her says, “Ma’am, I’m dying of curiosity. Why the Scotch with only two drops of water?”

“Sonny, when you’re my age, you’ve learned to hold your liquor. Holding your water, however, is a whole other issue.”

Priest: I’m so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing, Mary. My deepest condolences.

Widow: Oh, thank you, Father.

Priest: It’s a hard time.

Widow: Yes, Father, it is.

Priest: And did he have any last requests?

Widow: Yes, Father, he did.

Priest: And what was his last request, Mary?

Widow: Well, he asked me to please put the gun down.

That’s all, folks. Enjoy the rest of your week.
