Praises and Testimonies:

· We feed the homeless the second Sunday of each month. Bobbi Standish, who heads this up for MORE, would like to thank the people at MORE for their continued faithfulness and generosity in feeding the homeless. Last Sunday, there were so many meals the volunteers were able to feed everyone at their regular stops as well as take some to the tent city. Bobbi said, “I am so honored and blessed by our members who continue to do this without being reminded or asked every week.”

Prayer Requests:

· Pray for Carrie Henard who will have a hysterectomy on Thursday.

· Pray for Olivia Arenas, daughter of Deon/Heather Arenas and granddaughter of Oscar/Sophia Ramirez. Olivia has a black spot on her arm that has tripled in size in one week. There are no pediatric dermatologists in Amarillo and Lubbock is backed up. They are trying to get her to Dallas as soon as possible.

· Pray for Chuck Melear whose cancer has returned. He cannot do chemo again. Surgery may be an option. He’s not feeling well and needs God to intervene.

· Pray for Gabby Hinds who has been sick with the croup.

· Pray for baby Mateo who was born after Christmas and had surgery Monday for a failing kidney. If a blockage was not found then he will have to be on dialysis or placed on the donor list. Mateo is the relative of Lyndal Waldrip’s sister-in-law.

· Pray for Kerry Luke’s aunt, Renia Oliver, who had surgery on Monday.

· Pray for Joni Holley’s father who is recovering at home after surgery to remove a kidney with a tumor in it.

· Pray for Brittany Stevenson’s stepbrother Alex who has been diagnosed with brain tumors. The Mayo clinic says with chemo and radiation Alex has maybe a year to live. Without treatment, maybe three months. We also can pray for God to heal him completely.

· Pray for former MORE member, Wayne Stevens, who has been diagnosed with aggressive lung cancer. Discussing treatment options.

· Pray for those with long-term health issues: Tim Murphy (ALS/Lou Gehrig’s disease); Ronnie Mullins (long-term recovery from auto accident).

· Pray for family and friends in our congregation who are struggling with meth and other addictions.

· Pray for Martin and Rebekah Neil and their ministry Voices from the Nations.

· In addition, please pray for all of our military personnel, leaders, president and cabinet members.

Sunday, 01/13/19 offering was $9,748.13. Year-to-date giving is $25,766.35. Budget is $29,800. Attendance was 533.

Thoughts for the week:

· 1 John 4:7-8 – Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. (NLT)

· 1 Corinthians 13:8 – Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever! (NLT)

· Exodus 15:26 – He said, “If you will listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and keeping all his decrees, then I will not make you suffer any of the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am the Lord who heals you.” (NLT)

· Malachi 3:6 – “I am the Lord and I do not change…” (NLT)

_____________________________________________________________________

I was listening to Christian radio and heard a lady call in. “Pastor, I was born blind and I’ve been blind all my life. I don’t mind so much being blind but I have some well-meaning friends who tell me that if I had more faith I could be healed.”

The radio pastor asked her, “Tell me, do you carry one of those white canes?”

“Yes, I do,” she answered.

“Then the next time someone tells you that, hit him or her on the head with your cane and say, ‘If you had more faith that wouldn’t hurt.’ “

A lecturer from the denominational seminary was illustrating some point or other in an adult education class. “What is the opposite of joy?”

“Sadness,” answered the student.

The academic nodded approvingly and continued. “And the opposite of depression?”

“Elation,” another student volunteered.

Undeterred, the lecturer persisted with her questioning. “And what about the opposite of woe?”

Quick as a flash, an old-timer in the back of the class fired back, “I reckon that would be giddy up.”

The average man’s idea of a good sermon is one that goes over his head and hits a neighbor.”

That’s all, folks. Enjoy the rest of your week.
