Changing Our Community One Life at a Time

Based in the heart of San Jacinto, our center meets the needs of residents using tools such as food, hygiene items & baby supplies. Through relationship, we receive the opportunity to focus on deeper issues contributing to poverty in this neighborhood. MORE is proud to be a part of and support this community center. If you would like to know more about Acts Community please visit their website at www.actscommunity.org.

The PREP program (Prisioner ReEntry Project) is a faith-based program at the Randall County Jail to help those incarcerated in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice system to adapt and get a head start on life outside of prison, upon their release from TDCJ. They are trained through various programs and classes and are assisted in obtaining proper paperwork, autos, jobs, etc. before they get out. We rely heavily on employers to hire them and mentors meet with them on a regular basis. Administrative Pastor Lyndal Waldrip and the PREP Project Coordinator are in charge of organizing this program and keep it running smoothly. If you want to help in any way with the PREP Program please Contact Us or Lyndal Waldrip at lyndalwaldrip@me.com or Stephen Cutberth at 12strings@suddenlink.net.

Community Groups are a wonderful way to engage in discipleship with other like-minded individuals. Discipleship is learning to love one another, love God and love ourselves.  It's about learning who you are in everyday life and keeping life-long relationships.

Our classes are in-depth explorations into different aspects of our lives using the lens of the Word.  Explore MORE with us.

Discover the group that best fits your needs here: Community Groups and Classes

Some groups will not meet during the summer break.  Please click the above icon for details concerning meeting dates for each group.

The goal of the Welcome Ministry at MORE is for everyone to feel welcome and comfortable when they enter our doors. (Not just guests- but everyone!)  We desire for people to feel the love of God through us whether it's through a hot cup of coffee, a kind word, a smile or a hug. This ministry is an extension of the Core Values of MORE.

"Be kind and merciful. Let no one ever come to you without coming better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness to the poor. To the poor, to all who suffer and are lonely, give always a happy smile, give them your care, but also you heart." - Mother Teresa

If you want to become a greeter or have any other questions please Contact Us or Becky Waldrip at lbigdrip@sbcglobal.net.

In partnership with other local churches and the city, approximately 200 sack lunches are distributed to the homeless in downtown Amarillo every weekend.  MORE has committed to donating and delivering these lunches every second and fifth Sunday of the month. The lunches contain messages of salvation, hope, and most of all, love.

Here are the guidelines for the meal structure:
Everything in your lunch sack must be pre-packaged – nothing can be made at home, no food that your hands have touched.
Each lunch should include:

  • a piece of fresh fruit (banana or orange-a fruit with skin);
  • a pack of crackers, chips or other packaged snack;
  • cookies or another sweet;
  • can of Vienna sausage, pouch of tuna or pop-top can of fully-cooked, ready-to-go ravioli, soup etc. (please include an eating utensil).
  • Optional items include a small sleeve of packaged crackers, sticks of string cheese or small package of peanuts or other nuts.

For more information, Contact Us or Bobbi Standish at standardfam@sbcglobal.net or 570-8143.

We have a group of people who go to Plum Creek Nursing Home every Sunday morning. They spend time with these wonderful people who don't otherwise get a chance to attend church. Instead, we take church to them. They sing with the residents and have a short devotional lesson. If you are interested in joining these dedicated people take church and fellowship to those at Plum Creek,  please contact Sherry Moore at sdmoore5@gmail.com

We go into the world beyond our local community to help others. Christine Stickrod leads groups to go into places like Thailand and bring hope and prayer into places that have none. If you are interested in supporting or becoming a part of the Foreign Missions Team please Contact Us to let us know.

This group goes into hospitals, rehabilitation facilities and the homes of our members that are unable to join us on a regular basis because of health problems. We talk and pray with them and let them know that we earnestly care. Please Contact Us if you are interested in being a part of this important ministry.

Our Martha Ministry is dedicated to ministering God’s love through acts of kindness and hospitality.  Delivering a meal to someone who is wading through a life crise is a crucial opportunity to show God's love.  Celebrating the joyous moment of bringing a new child home is also an excellent time to show someone you care. Rebekah McGowan is the coordinator of this beautiful ministry. Contact Us or email Rebekah at rfaith74@gmail.com if you would like to be added to our list for meal deliveries.

Do you have a question?  A comment?  A prayer request?  Do you want to get involved but you're still not sure how? Let us know and we'll be in touch.
